About Samaritan Village MMTP

For more than 60 years, Samaritan Daytop Village has helped New York communities through proven substance use recovery. Their care continuum spans medical & mental health care, supportive housing and vocational education assistance. The Willis Avenue Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) is one of two outpatient opioid recovery clinics that they operate in the Bronx.

The location is easily accessible via public transportation, including the BX1 Bus and the 4 and 5 subway lines. They help adults across Bronx County and beyond overcome opioid dependence through an integrated care model that includes medication-assisted treatment (MAT), outpatient therapy and social support. Opioid recovery services at this clinic are funded through Medicaid and Medicare.

Methadone & Suboxone Maintenance Treatment

MAT at Willis Avenue OTP involves a tailored prescription of Methadone and Suboxone following intake assessment to help you ease withdrawal symptoms and cravings. You’ll then attend therapy sessions where expert clinicians use proven methods like cognitive behavioral techniques to help you understand triggers and develop healthier coping strategies.

You’ll learn new ways to manage stress and anger. Their family and parenting sessions help rebuild trust with loved ones and strengthen the natural support system essential for lasting recovery. They also offer spirituality sessions and self-help groups like Narcotics Anonymous to foster connection and peer accountability.

The clinic will connect you with community services to help you navigate personal needs like housing, employment and transportation. This support creates stability in your daily life and strengthens your foundation for long-term recovery.

Accommodating Diverse Needs

I appreciate that they offer bilingual services in Spanish and English to better accommodate the diverse needs of the community. I also noticed the clinic is an ADA-compliant facility, meaning they’re accessible to individuals with disabilities and equipped to meet the needs of such vulnerable populations.

Many past clients have expressed satisfaction with the quality of care they received here. One client noted, “ I gained control of my addiction here…My experience was excellent. The staff were kind and respectful…”

Detox Service Setting

  • Outpatient Detox

Outpatient detox gives you access to medically supervised withdrawal services while still allowing you to live at home. You’ll attend a clinic for treatment and monitoring. This flexible option is suitable for those with mild to moderate withdrawal symptoms who have strong support systems.

  • MAT

Medication assisted treatment combines medication and counseling to manage withdrawal and reduce cravings for opioid and alcohol addiction. Medications may include methadone, buprenorphine or naltrexone. MAT is tailored to your needs so you can actively participate in your treatment journey.

Programs

  • Adult (18+)

Adult programs address the substance use and life challenges specific to adults. Therapists can deliver sessions in individual, group and family settings. Services often include job support and life skills training in a structured environment.

  • Women

Women's programs offer a safe and supportive space to focus on gender specific issues such as trauma, family roles and mental health conditions. Therapists tailor the sessions to address women's needs and foster empowerment in a healing and nurturing environment.
