About Bethany Christian Services Substance Abuse Counseling Program
Bethany Christian Services in Grand Rapids, Michigan, extends God’s mercy and grace to children and families who are in need. They operate with the philosophy that each child is made in the image of God and is worthy of safety, family and belonging.
Safe Families for Children Program
Safe Families places children in the home of a host family while a specialist helps parents to overcome substance use, poverty, homelessness, health issues or loss of a job. We know that substance use can lead to all of these circumstances and we see that this negatively affects the children of the home.
Christian Counseling
Christian counseling is available for individuals or families. If you are suffering from substance use disorder or an eating addiction, a counselor can provide therapy for you. While the center does not provide detoxification, counselors can refer you to a local treatment center that provides these services.
Counselors also treat clients for abuse and neglect, anxiety, depression, adjustment issues, adoption issues, developmental concerns, grief and loss, marital issues, peer or sibling conflict, separation and divorce, stress and anger management.
Homebuilders Program for Family Unity
The homebuilders program addresses the needs of families experiencing child abuse, neglect, family conflict, domestic violence, substance use and mental health problems. The assigned specialist works with the family on parenting, communication, safety planning, life skills, emotional management and relapse prevention. The family has access to crisis intervention and stabilization while in the program.
