About Great Lakes Recovery Centers Adult Residential Services

The Adult Residential Services facility of Great Lakes Recovery Centers (GLRC) is in Marquette, Missouri. They serve exclusively male clients aged 18 and over who are living with a substance use disorder. GLRC offers a whole body approach to treatment, addressing the impact substance use has on the mind, body, and soul. Clients work with treatment providers to create a personalized treatment plan tailored to their unique needs and recovery goals.

Clients typically start treatment with the clinical withdrawal management program to get them clean from substances. Following that is a withdrawal assessment to determine the best course of treatment, which will likely include the use of prescription medications to curb cravings and ease the effects of withdrawal. Symptoms will be monitored around the clock to ensure clients are comfortable and safe during the withdrawal process.

When withdrawal symptoms are under control, clients are encouraged to take art in group therapy sessions to find support from their peers and start to learn coping strategies. There are also spiritual services to provide clients with emotional comfort.

While living at Adult Residential Service, clients participate in individual therapy and daily group counseling sessions covering a broad range of subjects, such as addiction education, relapse prevention, 12 Step principles, and coping strategies. Clients are also encouraged to attend AA and NA meeting during treatment to help them find a support network and create a solid foundation for recovery.

BSc

Having struggled with her mental health, Gemma has spent much of her writing career focused on topics surrounding behavioral health and stigmatized health issues, such as eating disorders, depression, obesity, and sexually transmitted diseases. It was a natural step to write about addiction, with her background in Biology and Research Science playing a key role in understanding chemical dependency as a disease. By writing about drug rehabilitation in an accessible and compassionate way, she hopes more people will feel encouraged to seek help.
