Residential Withdrawal Management (Sub-Acute Detoxification) is an organized service that is delivered by appropriately trained staff, who provide 24-hour supervision, observation, and support for clients who are intoxicated or experiencing withdrawal.  This level emphasizes peer and social support rather than on medical or nursing care.  This is a medically supervised service.  However, the Harbor Hall Medical Director and Clinical Director are on call 24/7 to screen a potential client’s appropriateness for this level of care and to provide Harbor Hall detoxification staff with direction and guidance as needed.   This service is delivered to adult males age 18 and older.

There are three immediate goals for Withdrawal Management (Sub Acute Detoxification):

To assure safe withdrawal from a person’s substance of abuse/misuse.

To deliver the service that is both humane and protects the individual’s dignity.

To prepare the individual for on-going treatment and therapy.

The Withdrawal Management staff provide care in a supportive environment that is culturally sensitive and maintains strict confidentiality.  This service is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week on a space available basis.

At Harbor Hall, we believe that substance-related disorders affect the whole person and is reflected in the individuals’ problems with conduct, attitudes, values, beliefs and emotion regulation.  The goal of treatment is to:

Promote abstinence from substance use

Address other addictive behaviors and antisocial tendencies

Address any co-occurring condition (both physical and mental)

Affect change in the client’s lifestyles

Promote self-worth

Improve decision making

Develop relapse prevention strategies

This level of care serves individuals who need a safe and structured therapeutic environment.  This living environment enables the client to develop, practice and demonstrate the skills necessary to maintain sobriety and recovery.

Harbor Hall offers residential treatment services that feature a highly planned and structured regimen of care in a 24 hour setting.  Treatment services adhere to defined policies, procedures and evidence based clinical approaches.

Through an intensive assessment process, the Length of Service varies and depends on an individuals assessed needs.  Generally, the maximum length of stay is 90 days.  The client participates in a treatment planning process with the assigned primary group therapist.  Treatment Plans are individualized and based on the assessment of needs.  The duration of treatment varies based on the severity of the individual’s illness and the response to the recommended treatment plan.

Harbor Hall’s Clinical Staff is a highly trained, professionally licensed and/or certified by the Michigan Certification Board of Addiction Professionals (MCBAP).  This multi-disciplinary team reviews treatment progress and makes recommendations for continuing care.

Harbor Hall has 38 beds available for residential treatment. This service is delivered to adult males 18 and older.
