About Bridge Center

You’ll find New Choices Recovery Center Bridge Center in Schenectady, New York, about 20 miles northwest of Albany. Since 1968, this not for profit agency has provided compassionate substance abuse care, including medication assisted treatment to manage your withdrawal.

This location offers a men’s residential program emphasizing community reintegration. You’ll benefit from a long term structured environment with 24/7 support to enhance your recovery journey.

You must be referred by probation, parole, drug court, an inpatient facility, DSS, or another community organization. They ensure you can get the help you need regardless of finances. If you’re not eligible for DSS assistance, they work with you to create a financial arrangement.

Comprehensive Aftercare Plans

What stands out most to me is their thorough and personalized aftercare plans. Along with maintaining sobriety, they help you rebuild other essential life aspects. You’ll benefit from a thorough plan including employment, housing, and any necessary additional support. They ensure you have a solid foundation to support yourself and sustain recovery.

Long Program Duration

Another great feature I noticed was their length of stay. You’ll benefit from a long program duration of about four to six months. That way, after managing your withdrawal, you’ll have plenty of time to develop and practice coping skills, create a sober support network, find employment, and more. During your time in their program, you can participate in onsite counseling and attend a community based treatment program.

Outpatient Medication Assisted Treatment

Lastly, I think it’s nice that they provide access to their integrated opioid treatment program, just a short drive away. You can access methadone to manage withdrawal symptoms and cravings while participating in outpatient services. They provide peer support, group counseling, medical care, harm reduction, and more.
