About West Midtown Medical Group
The West Midtown Medical Group has provided integrated healthcare for midtown Manhattan residents since 1974. They offer primary medical care and substance use recovery in a supportive and nurturing outpatient environment. They provide outpatient detoxification via medication assisted treatment (MAT). This is in addition to primary medical care like infectious disease treatment and smoking cessation.
The facility is located near Hudson River Park in the Midtown Manhattan neighborhood of New York City. It is a few blocks from the 34th St-Penn Station, 34th St-Herald Square and Times Square-42nd St for easy transit access. M34, M42 and M7 buses operate within the area as well.
Medication-Supported Substance Use Recovery
MAT is the cornerstone of their substance use recovery service. This technique uses medicines approved by the FDA alongside counseling to deliver holistic healing. The facility uses methadone, buprenorphine and naltrexone, based on your individualized care to curb physiological cravings and alleviate painful withdrawal symptoms that come from drugs, alcohol, or cigarettes.
You’ll then attend therapy groups and individual counseling to tackle underlying psychological and emotional issues and build practical coping and relapse prevention skills. Therapy group addresses anger management, domestic violence and vocational & educational readiness. They also offer separate men’s and women’s issues groups, relapse prevention, and 12 Step meetings. MAT fosters lasting abstinence and recovery by keeping you longer in treatment.
Preventive Care & Smoking Cessation
West Midtown Medical Group offers screening, testing and treatment for infectious diseases like HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis that may arise due to sharing needles. Screening ensures early detection and prevents community spread. The facility also offers TB testing & treatments as well as treatment for HBP, and diabetes. It’s all about helping you stay healthy and productive in the community.
