Pine Rest’s Christian Mental Health Services has a residential detox unit in Grand Rapids, Michigan. They trace their roots back to 1910. Today, Pine Rest is a 20,000 square foot unit that offers co-occurring substance use and mental health treatments. They also have walk-in psychiatric urgent care.

Your care will begin with an assessment so that staff may develop an individualized treatment plan for your needs. This assessment includes a psychiatric assessment and a physical. During detox you will be medically monitored 24/7 by registered nurses. You’ll have a daily follow up with a physician and medication management to take care of your symptoms and cravings.

They offer group therapy, self-help programs, relapse prevention training and most importantly after care planning. I like that they offer 90 days of transition care after you leave this center. This additional support adds an extra layer to prevent relapse. They also offer a family education and support group for your loved ones. If you wish, you can transition to their outpatient programs after detox. You’ll get a Vivitrol injection to help manage your cravings after you leave. One dose gives you 30 days of medication.
