Hansen House For Women
About Hansen House For Women
Hansen House For Women is a women only residential halfway house in Egg Harbor City, New Jersey offering long term transitional support for adults recovering from alcohol and drug addiction.
Operated by Hendricks House, Inc. and owned by The Hansen Foundation, the program serves women who have completed primary treatment and need structured sober living to support reintegration. Hansen House provides a community centered environment where evidence based therapy, vocational support and peer accountability help women build a long lasting recovery.
Sober Living for Women
Hansen House specializes in long term residential care for women transitioning from primary addiction treatment back into daily life. The program treats co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, with specialized support for survivors of trauma, sexual abuse and intimate partner violence, as well as clients involved in the criminal justice system.
Residents participate in individual and group counseling using cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and the matrix model. Treatment includes relapse prevention and trauma focused counseling, anger management and 12 step facilitation with on site meetings.
Former clients have reported maintaining long term sobriety for five to six years and gaining tools to live without substances.
Community Based Healing
Hansen House emphasizes connection and accountability through shared experiences. Residents take turns cooking dinner for the group while staff members join meals to reflect on the day together.
The program’s therapeutic Recovery Gardens allow women to plant flowers, maintain green spaces and create hand painted rocks representing their recovery journey, blending creative expression with meaningful routine.
Access and Getting Started
Hansen House serves women at its 24 bed facility on Aloe Street in Egg Harbor City, with clients referred from primary treatment programs. The program also offers vocational training and educational support including GED preparation.
The cost is $120 per week, and Hansen House accepts Medicaid, private insurance and self payment.
