North Hudson Community Action West New York, has been providing services to West New York, New Jersey, since 1965. Their first program was Head Start, and in the following years, they expanded services. They opened their first Federally Qualified Health Center in 1994 and are accredited by The Joint Commission

Social Services to Support Sobriety

Although they do not offer structured substance use disorder programs, they do provide a variety of social services that reduce stress and support ongoing sobriety. The Emergency Assistance Department can provide help in a variety of crises including food, housing, rehousing and offering free minor home repairs to senior citizens.

Employment Assistance

A lack of employment can lead to homelessness and is a significant trigger for addictive behavior. North Hudson Community Action Corporation provides Employment Services for job seekers. This includes helping you develop a resume, develop job search strategies and prepare for a job interview. 

They also network with local businesses to improve employee retention and establish commitments that smooth the transition into employment. There are several criteria to obtain these services including proof of income and being 18 years or older.

Discounted Prescription Medications

The discount pharmaceutical program allows you to save money on prescription medication which can reduce your financial burden. This includes prescriptions used for medication assisted treatment (MAT) during your recovery. They also provide Primary Care Medical Home Services. This is a team approach to coordinate your health care and provide the best possible outcomes.
