About Firelands Counseling and Recovery Services Huron County
Firelands Counseling and Recovery Services in Norwalk, Ohio, provides outpatient behavioral health services to community residents. They’re just south of Sandusky on the Lake Erie Coast and are the largest and most comprehensive resource for medical care in the area.
Opioid Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)
Behavioral health services include treatment for mental health conditions like anxiety and depression, as well as substance abuse disorders, with licensed mental health professionals. Addiction care includes medication-assisted therapy for opioid addiction, including codeine, morphine, heroin, and oxycodone.
Alongside MAT, they also provide counseling and social support to help you overcome your opioid addiction. Vivitrol is prescribed to people who are seeking assistance for the prevention of relapse and are at least 18 years of age and receiving counseling through their service.
Multidisciplinary Team Approach to Care
Vivitrol is provided once monthly to help block signals to the brain’s reward system to reduce the risk of relapse. Your treatment program may instead include Suboxone, which is an oral medication used to help curb opioid cravings.
While you must have detox from opioids to use vivitrol, Suboxone can begin immediately as you’re detoxifying to help reduce cravings, withdrawal symptoms, and reduce the risk of relapse. You can receive in-person and virtual counseling, but you must attend the clinic in person to receive MAT.
The program uses a multidisciplinary team approach, including psychiatrists, licensed mental health therapists, recreational therapists, and discharge planners. They work with most insurance providers and offer a self-pay pricing structure.
