Empire Recovery Center
About Empire Recovery Center
Empire Recovery Center, located in Redding, California, offers social detox and residential alcohol and drug addiction recovery services for adults. This program provides a continuum of care through non-medical withdrawal management and 30 to 90 day residential treatment.
Their withdrawal management program follows a social model for detox. This non-medical detoxification includes a quiet living space, peer support, nutritious meals and hydration and encouragement to choose recovery. This program is between three and seven days and requires a medical clearance prior to admittance.
Evidence-based materials are used including cognitive behavioral therapy, 12 step programs, motivational interviewing and referrals to community resources and supports.
Clients can bring prescription medication to help with the symptoms of withdrawal. However, they must be picked up prior to arriving at the facility. No smoking or nicotine gum is permitted. Nicotine patches are accepted. Participants will change into scrubs upon arrival. Their clothing will be cleaned and ready upon discharge from the program. Watches, cell phones and other personal items will be securely stored until departure.
Their residential treatments are 30, 60 or 90 day programs and follow the social model setting. Thinking for a change, relapse prevention, parenting skills, recovery skills, Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous and Red Road to Wellbreity are available services.
During the first 30 days, residents will have no contact with the outside world. After this blackout period, real-world skill training and other exposure will be included in the treatment.
Empire Recovery Center accepts private pay, sliding scale payment assistance and private insurance. Contact your insurance provider to verify coverage as out of network benefits may vary.

Having struggled with her mental health, Gemma has spent much of her writing career focused on topics surrounding behavioral health and stigmatized health issues, such as eating disorders, depression, obesity, and sexually transmitted diseases. It was a natural step to write about addiction, with her background in Biology and Research Science playing a key role in understanding chemical dependency as a disease. By writing about drug rehabilitation in an accessible and compassionate way, she hopes more people will feel encouraged to seek help.
