About H.A.A.R.T. Oakland
Known for its vibrant waterfront and artistic community, Oakland, California, is home to H.A.A.R.T. Oakland. For over 30 years this nonprofit clinic has served adults in Bay Area communities struggling with heroin, opiate prescription medications and other opioid addictions. You can access detox and medication assisted treatment (MAT) to reach your recovery goals.
Affordable Care
One great feature I noticed was their dedication to affordable care. They accept Medi Cal, Kaiser and other insurance plans. They also provide self pay options including reduced fees for low income clients. That way you can get the support you need without finances standing in the way.
Medication Assisted Treatment
Another great feature that caught my eye was their MAT program. You can access a blended approach with FDA approved medications and behavioral therapies. They prescribe buprenorphine or methadone to manage withdrawal symptoms and cravings that can hinder recovery. You’ll participate in counseling to get to the root of addiction. Medical exams, lab tests, drug screening and regular medical follow ups are also included.
Overdose Prevention
I also think it’s great that they provide overdose prevention services. This could include harm reduction services such as Narcan training and distribution, syringe exchange programs and fentanyl test strips. You’ll benefit from support to protect yourself and use substances more safely if you’re not yet ready to start recovery.
Client Experiences
Many previous clients enjoyed their experiences here. One mentioned that they provided personalized care and were always there to support their needs. Another former client praised their speedy services and clean, comfortable facility.
