Edward Hines Junior Hospital offers drug rehab services and is part of the VA Hines Health Care System in Hines, Illinois. The center provides medical detox, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), inpatient (IP), outpatient (OP), and aftercare programs for veterans and their families. Specialized services are available for seniors, homeless/indigent communities, the LGBTQ+ community, and underserved communities.
At Edward Hines Junior Hospital, clients have a structured environment to begin their sobriety and manage their withdrawal symptoms. Medical detox can include FDA-approved prescriptions, such as methadone, buprenorphine/naloxone, naltrexone, acamprosate, disulfiram, topiramate, bupropion, and varenicline to reduce cravings. Clients concurrently begin counseling programs to strengthen their recovery.
After detox, clients continue to participate in individual and group counseling through cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and motivational enhancement therapy approaches to address co-occurring mental and behavioral health disorders. Services may also include faith-based chaplain services, primary care as needed, social services to address homelessness and food security issues, and trauma care. Clients develop life skills and healthy daily living habits as they reintegrate into their communities.
