About Alcoholics Anonymous San Mateo

Alcoholics Anonymous San Mateo serves as the central Intergroup office coordinating AA services throughout San Mateo County, California. This nonprofit peer led fellowship supports men and women in recovery from alcohol addiction through 12 step programs at meetings held across the county.

Peer Led 12-Step Support for Alcohol Recovery

The San Mateo County Intergroup coordinates a network of 12-Step meetings where members work through the steps, connect with sponsors, and support newcomers in their recovery journey. The program is rooted in reading AA literature, learning the principles and traditions, and making daily decisions aligned with sobriety.

Continuous Support and Detox Referrals

The central office maintains a comprehensive meeting directory for San Mateo County and operates a 24 hour helpline for anyone seeking AA support. The Intergroup also hosts annual Holiday Alkathons during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s, a tradition spanning over 50 years that offers continuous meetings during times when many face heightened relapse risk.

The office can refer members in need of detox treatment to a local facility that offers this treatment.

Accessing AA in San Mateo County

The central office is located on South El Camino Real in San Mateo and operates Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with meetings held at various locations throughout the county. AA has no membership dues or fees and is self supporting through voluntary contributions from members.
