About Kaweah Health Mental Health Hospital

Kaweah Health Mental Health Hospital in Visalia, California provides inpatient psychiatric care. They are part of a larger health system that can provide outpatient behavioral health services across several locations in the state. Visalia is a rural town midway between Fresno and Bakersfield along the Golden State Highway.

Acute Inpatient Adult Mental Health Treatment

The hospital offers an adult acute inpatient unit for people 18 years and older who are diagnosed with a mental health condition and whose symptoms cannot be treated on an outpatient basis.

Kaweah Health purchased Kaweah Health Mental Health Hospital in the late 1990s. Now, it’s a licensed public non-profit health organization. Inpatient acute adult crisis intervention and medication stabilization began in the early 2000s.

Multidisciplinary Team Approach to Care

Inpatients receive care from a multidisciplinary team of mental health workers, nurses, doctors, case managers and recreational therapists. After mental health stabilization to address psychiatric conditions that affect addiction and substance use disorders, you can be referred to their Behavioral Health Services at one of three other outpatient clinics.

None of the locations offer a structured substance use disorder treatment program but they do address many of the mental health conditions that can trigger a relapse or that promote addictive behavior. The hospital system works with many of the health insurance companies in the state and has an online portal where you can pay your bill.
