About ARMT Medical Specialists – Closed
Formerly known as Progressive Medical Specialists, this now-closed facility was later renamed ARMT Medical. Based in San Diego, California, it used to serve adults struggling with substance abuse.
Methadone Detox Programs
The center used to provide several options when it came to detox services. Clients could access medical intervention and daily doses of methadone, alongside counseling for up to 180 days. In this way, they could begin to make a serious dent in their dependency. The program followed a harm-reduction approach, supporting and motivating clients to become drug-free. The program was designed to incrementally reduce methadone dosages until clients no longer relied on it.
The detox programs here were designed for individuals who had only been dependent on opiates for a short while, or those who hadn’t previously been in treatment for their addiction.
Clients could choose between short-term detox, a program that took place over 21 days. For individuals for more severe or long-term addiction issues, the long-term program was recommended. This took place over 180 days.
The Methadone Maintenance Program
After initial testing and physical exam, this program involved daily dispensation of methadone, along with supervised urine screens, and long-term outpatient counseling and education sessions. The goal of this program was to reduce clients’ dependency on their addictive substance of choice, substituting it for methadone.
All clients received tailored treatment plans to guide them through the recovery process, as well as access to referrals to local health and social service providers.
