Dignity Health – St. Joseph’s Behavioral Health Center
About Dignity Health – St. Joseph’s Behavioral Health Center
Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Behavioral Health Center is a 35 bed acute psychiatric hospital in Stockton, California providing mental health and substance use disorder treatment since 1988. The center serves youth, adults and families through inpatient stabilization, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs addressing a wide range of mental health conditions and addiction. St. Joseph’s is committed to removing barriers to care by offering free behavioral evaluations to anyone in need, regardless of ability to pay.
Dual Diagnosis Treatment
St. Joseph’s specializes in treating co-occurring mental health conditions and substance use disorders through an integrated dual diagnosis approach. The center provides medically supervised detox, medication assisted treatment including Suboxone for opioid use disorder and coordinated care from a team of psychiatrists and counselors, social workers and nurses.
Treatment combines evidence based dialectical behavior therapy groups focused on emotional regulation and communication skills with 12 step programming and medication management. Sessions address both underlying mental health challenges and addiction simultaneously, helping patients build sustainable recovery skills through individual, group and family therapy in a structured hospital environment.
Continuum of Care
St. Joseph’s offers multiple levels of care allowing patients to step down while maintaining connection to the same treatment team. After acute inpatient stabilization, patients can transition to partial hospitalization or intensive outpatient programs providing 3 to 5 hours of structured treatment four to five days per week, with specialized adolescent IOP tracks available.
