About Service League of San Mateo County Hope House

Service League of San Mateo County Hope House is a nonprofit residential substance use disorder treatment program for adult women located in Redwood City, California. The 16 bed program offers long term 12 step focused care with individual, group and family counseling, specializing in serving pregnant women and women with infants, postpartum mothers and justice involved individuals.

With over 35 years of experience, Hope House provides trauma informed, evidence based treatment that addresses addiction alongside mental health conditions, legal challenges and family reunification.

Treatment for Women and Mothers

Hope House operates two side by side homes in a residential neighborhood, with up to four beds reserved for pregnant individuals or mothers who care for their infants while enrolled. This mother child model allows women to address substance use while developing parenting skills and keeping their families together throughout treatment.

Treatment includes cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma informed psychotherapy with gender specific group sessions and complementary therapies like meditation, art therapy and mindfulness, and comprehensive life skills training. Sessions focus on coping, emotional regulation and relapse prevention, parenting and job readiness with case management supporting medical and mental health needs throughout recovery.

Lifelong Support

Hope House offers transitional housing at five homes throughout Redwood City for program graduates each with six beds. The unique Hope House Scholars Program, in collaboration with Stanford University provides college level coursework during treatment with free vouchers for future courses. Alumni receive lifelong support through weekly groups, aftercare planning and an open door policy.

Hope House accepts Medi Cal, private insurance and self pay with financial aid available.
