About Teen Challenge San Diego
Teen Challenge San Diego is a faith based addiction treatment center in San Diego, California, offering long term residential care for adult men struggling with substance use. The program uses a one year Christian discipleship model, with the first three to four months at the San Diego facility on Lea Street before participants transfer to Riverside to complete the program.
All services at Teen Challenge San Diego are provided at no cost to participants. The nonprofit program is supported entirely by private donors and does not require insurance or payment of any kind. The 26,000 square foot renovated building includes a gym, recreation room, and 52 to 54 beds in a private, wheelchair-accessible setting.
Detox Referral and Faith Based Treatment
Teen Challenge San Diego provides long-term residential treatment lasting one year, along with regular outpatient services for those who need flexibility. Treatment includes individual counseling, group counseling, family counseling, anger management, relapse prevention, and substance use disorder education.
All programs are grounded in a biblical discipleship approach with daily Bible study, prayer, chapel, and worship. The center does not offer detox treatment but can refer men to a local detox treatment facility. After detox the men are able to return for treatment at the center.
Treatment Available to a Diversity of Clients
The program exclusively serves adult men ages 18 and older with drug or alcohol addiction. Teen Challenge San Diego welcomes seniors, veterans, criminal justice clients including those coming directly from jail or prison, court-appointed individuals, and men with co-occurring mental health concerns, trauma histories, or HIV/AIDS.
