About Mental Health Systems Inc East County Center for Change
The Courage to Call location of TURN Behavioral Health Services in metropolitan San Diego, California, is a mental health facility. The TURN organization is rebranded from Mental Health Systems. It’s a short drive from Mission Trails Regional Park if being outdoors helps you unwind.
They offer services for mental health, supportive housing, substance use disorders, and assistance for those who are or have been involved with the justice system.
Services are available to those who are uninsured or are unable to receive services for other reasons. Members of the community including youth and veterans are invited to come for recovery services.
Substance Use Services and Treatments
The program is run by military veterans for veterans and is free of charge to former and active military and their families. The program helps veterans transition from a military environment to a civilian environment.
Military individuals who are in need of assistance can call 24 hours per day seven days per week. The center offers mental health and substance use disorder treatments.
The clinic can assist clients who are in need of housing, employment, legal aid, benefits, and other community resources.
Detox and Medication Management Referrals
If you’re in need of detox services, the clinic can refer you to their Action East center in Santee. The center offers treatment for clients with mental illness and/or substance use disorders.
They can assist you through withdrawals using medication management and monitoring and various therapies. Types of treatment include supportive housing and outpatient services. Peer support provides encouragement from someone already in recovery.
Levels of Care

Inpatient
Inpatient and residential programs provide round-the-clock medical and emotional support as you live at the treatment facility. This level of care may be recommended if you have severe addictions or mental health conditions since it removes outside distractions and allows you to focus solely on therapy.

In outpatient therapy, you’ll attend therapy sessions several times each week while living at home. This is ideal if you have a strong support system and a lower risk of relapse. Outpatient treatment offers flexibility to maintain work, school or family obligations.
