In ambulatory medical detox, clients are supervised as licensed clinicians administer FDA-approved prescriptions, which may include methadone, naloxone, disulfiram, and buprenorphine to reduce cravings and withdrawal pains while discouraging overdose and relapses. Dosing may begin on the same day as intake.

In addition to detox, clients participate in long-term counseling, which can include group and individual therapy, family therapy, and dual diagnosis approaches to address co-occurring mental and behavioral health disorders. HAART may make referrals to outside facilities and programs.
